Modified Kartboy Shifter
Though I've loved the feel of the Kartboy Short Shifter and bushings over the past 2 years, I've always felt that it was a bit too short in overall length for my taste. So, tonight I got a little creative with it and the old stocker. I wanted to add about 1¾ inches in length to the kartboy unit. So, I got some chromoly tubing in ½ id. Cut a length of about 1¾ inches long. Then I cut out about all but ½" of the threads off the kartboy shifter. then I cut all but about ½" below the threads of the stock shifter. The threaded portion of the kartboy and the stocker fit perfectly in the Chromoly tubing. TIG'ed them up and bingo. I have a nice solid shifter with nice short throws that just that much taller. It feels perfect. Unfortunatly I don't have a digitial camera so I don't have any pictures of the final product. Hopefully I'll take some pictures later this week and post them. Over all, it's about ½" taller than stock. But, the throws are just about as short as a stock Kartboy. To me it's perfect so I just thought I'd share.

The Kartboy short shifter is perfect for me outta the box, even though my reach isn't very far. The reason? My stock seat is lowered via factory mechanism as low as I can stand it. The drawback is that my sun visors aren't quite as effective these days.

If there was enough demand, maybe Kartboy would consider offering such a piece like you've made. Lengthening the Kartboy would seem like it would increase the throw since the distance to the pivot point is longer but I guess the difference is negligible in your case and outweighs any change.

If kartboy offered a longer shifter I'm sure people would buy them. After driving my car today, it feels perfect. For me anyway. Right now, the length to the top of the **** is about ½" taller than stock. But, the throws are just a little bit longer than a "stock" Kartboy. The increased length also decreases shifting effort which I don't mind either.
I had lowered my seat all the way down as well but, the distance from the steering wheels to the **** was just too far for me. After driving my cousins C5 vette, I really liked how close the shifter was to the wheel. So, I did then next best think and brought the **** closer to the wheel. I'll take some pictures this week and try to post them before the weekend.
