Jumpy RPMS?
Hey, I just recently picked up a 2003 wrx with alot of upgrades. And when i get to about 5k RPMs. it feels like my turbo doesnt engage all the way and jumps... or my car just looses power and ...the RPMs jump .... i was playing around with it...and from 4.8k rpms to about 7 rpms it jumps.
Right at 7k it goes into a full boost. which it should be the whole ride?
it laaaags!! Like its not getting enough air, or fuel mixture. It only did this after a trip to the snow, and alot of rainy days.....I ran 100 octane, and put injector cleaner in my car. But nothing.
ITS KILLING ME! lol
what could it be?
again i'm new to owning and maintaing a subaru....any suggestions?

check all vacuum lines... turbo inlet hose, intercooler piping, BPV, intake, from there, if everything is good check psi levels, check and make sure ur wastegate actuator is working properly!
or u can just take it to a tuning shop... i.e.-DBTuned in roseville and he can get it working properly in no time at all

ok. ok ok. well i'll check all the tubes i can see. lol I'm really not very mechanical.
So i'll most likely hit up DBtuned. I have a TurboXs ECU but its tuned to stock.
like...my upgrades are all HKS and consist of
front mount intercooler
cool air intake
T3 turbo
some kind of STI injectors,
the bottum end of the engine was completly rebuilt,
and straight pipe....
raceing suspension
and prob a bunch of things i dont know about. lol
i got a big project on my hands.... i need help i have no idea what i'm doing. . lol but i got it for cheap..

Ya, That could be a possibilty...Although when i bought the car, he had a EXEDY racing clutch, it shook really bad and was a very rough drive. so i made him put in the stock clutch although still has the light flywheel (i think)... it has about 6k miles on the new clutch.
It just feels like it will pull for a second, then stop, then pull again. really jumpy. gross....

thanks again for your input.

If the car pulls, then hesitates, then pulls hard again, this doesn't sound like a clutch issue. In the higher gears, clutch engagement will slip as engine approaches peak torque and usually continue slipping at full throttle until vehicle speed increases enough to better match engine speed.

Well, i def dont smell my clutch......
then its most likely a leak?
or? It honestly just feels like at higher RPMS i'm not getting enough gas/air....
thanks again!

Looking at your mod list, there's a host of problems that your car potentially has.
Piggyback ecu crap is just wrong.
Running hardware than the ecu is tuned for is wrong.
Gimme a call.
