Re: Impreza short-throw on XT?

I've read that it will fit but the height will be on the low side. I believe Kartboy makes a STS specific to the forester.

The WRX shifter has a wider part in the shifter where the bolt goes through so you can't just swap (I think). Plus the way the tranny tunnel is it will be way too short. KB makes a Forester Specific one that I did a beta test on and love it. Details here:

But the Forester is not a truck (or SUV)...

Info on Short Shift Kit

New member to the site and I just picked up my White MT 04FXT last weekend. Part of the deal that I got for my purchase is I had the dealership throw in a Short Shift Kit not installed. Can anyone confirm that the Short Shift Kit offered by Subaru for the FXT is different than the one for the WRX? I'm just concerned after read the earlier posts in this thread stating that the WRX short shift kit will not work in the FXT. I've checked online and noted that the part numbers are different. I'd appreciate it if anyone who does have a Subaru Short Shift Kit in their FXT would post a note and relieve me of my concerns since I haven't gotten around to installing it as of yet.

Thanks

Can't really answer your question, but you might have a better chance of getting a response over at www.subaruforester.com.

There is a specific SS kit from subaru for the Forester VS the one for the WRX. Both will fit the Forester but the WRX one puts the shifter kind of low in the console. It may be too low for some but that will be a subjective thing I suppose
