Hello everyone, i'm new to subaru and i've got one question for anyone who can answer it.
I need to know the estimated cost of a transmission swap from an automatic to a 5 or 6 speed manual transmission for the 04-05 impreza wrx.
I picked this car up recently not knowing much about cars in general and when i finally learned more about cars and how bad auto turbo lag is i'd like a change.
I'm looking for the total price of parts without labor and then what it would cost if there was labor involved.
I cannot trade the car back in for a manual at this time so i'm curious as to what it will be. So if anyone out there has gone though the same thing as i'm looking to do now please let me know what it took to finish it.

i'm not sure how much $ it would cost to do that kind of swap, (it can't be cheap) so i'm no help there. but i think the cheapest way to go about it would be just to sell that car and find a 5-speed manual wrx. i know you said you can't trade it in right now, but can you sell it? that's what i would do if i was in your shoes. my 0.02 cents

I did it (auto to 5-speed) and it ran a little under $4k (by a little I mean about $5) I got a good deal on most of the parts, but did spend an extra $1k for an RA geared tranny (I figured if I was getting the work done, I might as well step it up a notch)
I didn't sell my car because even though I bought it used, it had 19k miles on it when I got it and appeared to be babied, so trading it for a manual car was like possibly opening a giant can of worms.
