How short is to short?

I saw a short shifter that could reduce shifts up to 80%. My question is how fast can the shift be in the subaru before you are shifting faster then the syncros can handle?

you can shift without using the clutch, certain, speeds they will mesh right up, the other thing is your are not changing the gearbox at all, you will just have less of a distance to throw it, and it will be harder, there should not be a real problem.

won't that destroy your synchros tho? I've done it by mistake a couple of times before.

my kartboy is pretty damn short...

trust me, you can destory the synchros in a 5MT fairly quickly stock. go for a nice simple SS. Perrin, KB, SD... and change the bushing out, i have KB, i like it. Others like Cusco too.

i didn't buy a ss to make my shifts any faster.

i bought it so that i didn't have to move my arm as much to shift.

????

maybe that's just me.
