Hey, I need some help

I'm new to these forums, but it looks like a great place...

Anyways, I have a 1995 2.2L Impreza L that I got about a year ago, and for a highschool car, it's great. However, I was a little disapointed that 2.2L didn't come in a 5 speed that year. So, I was wondering if it's possible to put a 5 speed trany in there without too much work, and if anybody has done it. Trying to figure out if I should keep the car and, if possible, convert it this summer.

Nonetheless, yes, this has been done. No, it requires quite a bit of work. How much would your budget allow for it? oh wait, you're in high school still, don't do it.

Car Info: 1998 Subaru Legacy L 5-speed

if your gonna swap out the tranny might as well do the engine too. Get an EJ20 w/ 6-speed. But my guess is your budget is too low (I'm a college freshman and remember the low budget days of hs, though I had more $ then than now). Your best bet is to trade your car off for a manual or just wait.

mk... I was thinkin the same. Was hoping by some wierd chance that I could swap a 1.8L trany with the 2.2 and it would only need a little work. But that was a long shot. Thx for the help tho, and I think for now I'll start saving to trade up to a 2.5RS.
