HELP - Weird sound from back

Maybe i'm just tripping, i've been driving this car for about 2 - 3 months now.

I hear a weird noise, like driving with flat tire comming from the back of the car regarless of being in gear or not, i only hear it noticibly sub 15 miles an hour, comming to a stop, or just crusing at low speed (10-20mph), dont hear it when i accelerate but only because i think engine is covering the noise. dont hear it at higher speed, above 30 mph in neutral.

sound is very subtle, no one has noticed it until i said something about it.

its not consistent so i dont think its comming from the tires, my only guess is the suspension or the differentials.

i plan on changing the fluid and hopefully it fixes it or hopefully iam just tripping.

i dont notice anything wrong with it just except for the sound and sometimes i can feel it. anyone had this problem? is it normal or is something a foot?

Might be a diff. problem or tranny bearing. Have a shop check it out.

could this be the answer? 2)
it sounds exactly like it, goingn to look into this next time i work at the garage.

so i put new axle nuts, during the process i noticed that its been replaced before but i went and replaced it anyways and since i only bought the rear ones i just tightened the front ones just to make sure.
all been tightened to 140lb.

still, the sound is still there...what the hell is it!

have someone drive the car and you sit in the back. don't know if the seats fold down on the sti. if they do, def. put them down and chill out in the back and listen carefully.
again, i'm not familiar with the sti, but many cars have ways to pull some rubber stoppers from underneath the seats or in the trunk, where you can see the road or lower frame pieces. this way you'll get more of the sound. this will help you in finding the source.

yeah, i had 2 other guys driving with me to figure out where its comming from, we decided that it must be the suspension. the car had coilovers before i had it, it was put back to stock and during that time iam guessing a nut is not tight enough or something, i'll be doing my springs this week, hopefully i can see whats going on once i have it out.
