i have an 03 auto wrx. how do you peel out in an automatic?

real answer, check the transmission fluid level, but follow the instructions in the manual for checking it while cold. don't try it after the vehicles been driven within the last couple hours or you'll burn yourself on the bottom of the IC. if everything's fine, it might have been a fluke, or peeling out might have heated up the fluid a bit.

How did you peel out? Anyways, like the above post says, check the transmission and oil. If its fine and the oil light went off, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The Oil Temp light coming on can be any number of possible problems. You can take it to the dealer to have them pull the trouble code out of the TCU, there is also a way you can count the blinks of teh AT light, not sure of that procedure though.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that my air filter was still very moist from the K&N recharge?

I doubt it as well... but I was thinking that the excess oil could cause lesser flow and perhaps more stress on the AT. It's a huge stretch... but, my car is alright for now.

Its probably just a fluke. If you're really worried, take it in to get check out.

I have a 2000 Legacy. The AT Oil Temp light went on steady, once before and I had it checked out. They changed the filter and checked the trans and said it was fine. This was not a Subaru shop but the light went off and I have had no problems till today. The light went on again but this time it was blinking once per second.

Should I bring it into a dealership or a trans shop like AAMCO. I am up for ops here.

no. no man. naah!

If there was THAT MUCH oil in your air filter, it would hydro-lock (i.e. break) your motor, before it would stress your tranny.

like that Subiegal person who rallies cars into lakes?

when the water (or in this case oil) enters your intake, and your piston tries to compress it in the cylinder??

BOOOOM!!!! (gasses compress, not liquids)

Other than that, even a horribly dirty air filter is going to make the motor struggle to breathe, not make the tranny work harder.

Trannys work harder when you drive uphill, shift the gears manually a lot, do neutral-drops, etc.
