Glad to hear it worked out and also thanks for posting that info about that particular dealership having good results with a synthetic gear lube. Some dealerships don't bother trying things not suggested or recommended by the factory.

I had grinding in fourth and fifth gears, intially I was told there was no problem and they couldn't feel any grinding (from service advisor). So I asked for a second opinion and went on a ride with the Subaru Master Mechanic driving. As soon as he got to the freeway and could put it in third, fourth and fifth he immediately felt the grinding and drove right back to the dealer to fix what I would later found out was worn out syncro gears. Syncro gears for third, fourth and fifth gears were replaced along with all related parts. So that solved that problem.
