Getting power down low with an auto WRX

I have a new '04 WRX Wagon. I love the car, but I'm frustrated with the lack of low end power. I would like to improve driveability and get more power down low. I'm not concerned with track times, auto crossing or any racing - I just want my Sube to move a bit more quickly at speeds under 20mph.
Would a new chip help? Accessport for 4EAT? Would an exhaust/uppipe/downpipe help on the low end?

I think you will find that switching to a higher stall torque converter will liven your car up a great deal. I've heard of gains of 1-1.5 sec. 1/4 mile in auto trans cars with just a torque converter upgrade. Do a search you should be able to find a manufacturer who offers one.

Your best bet is maybe calling or sending an email to Cobb and see what the gains are for the accessport. It may recalibrate shift points in the auto. I don't think it will help the sluggishness down low though. Most of the gains you will see will be higher up in the rev range (once you've already launched). Converters are fairly easy to install and might even be in line with the price of the accessport.

An UP/TBE will help a bit in the "down low" as it allows the turbo to spool more quicky, bringing full boost and full HP on at a lower RPM. I think the aftermarket torque converter is the best bet, though.

Are there any negatives in regards to the high-stall torque converter? I've done a search here, but most folks I found writing about it were drag racing. I'm looking for something to improve driveability and it seems like some folks complained about problems on the highway once they had a new TQ installed.
If I did this (or any other mod), I'd most likely have a mechanic (if not a dealer) do the install.

Cobb stage 1 will not show much gain untill you are at around 3500 rpm's. Here is a link http://cobbtuning.com/wrx/images/ae-stage1-dyno.jpg.
You just have to flash back to stock map. Here is a link that answers the warranty question http://cobbtuning.com/wrx/accessport-faq.html.
