Your cars going to hate you if you have a stage 2 clutch on a stock tranny. I would upgrade the flywheel if your upgrading past the stage1 clutch if you have the money.

p.s. Im gettin my clutch out soon if you still need it. Ill pm you when its out.

Stock trannys on WRX's are not made for stage ll clutches, hence the reason the car came with the stock clutch. There are plenty of people out there that have blown their stock trannys on stock clutches, so when you upgrade to an extremely aggresive clutch, your tranny will not be able to take the shock every time you engage. You are pretty much guaranteeing yourself a busted trans down the road. The stock clutch is made to hold well over the stock power of a WRX, so you should be fine with that, unless you are swapping out turbos and such. If you really wanto upgrade your clutch, go with something alittle milder, like a stage 1 (Exedy Sport or something like it). As for a stock flywheel, I don't see a problem with running with the stock one. You'll probably want to resurface it, though. But while you've got it all apart, I'd shell out the extra $200-250 for a lightened one (not too light). It's a lot funner to have IMO.

The STi is fine with super lightweight flywheels, but the WRX, or more specifically, our cam sensors, do not like really lightweight flys. If you go too light, the cam sensors will send a message to the ECU stating that there is a mis-fire, when in fact there is not. I'm currently running an ACT Streetlite flywheel (13.9lbs.) and I have not had any problems whatsoever. I know anything heavier than 13.9 (i.e. Exedy fly 14.3, etc.) will be fine. When you get down to 10lbs (ACT Prolite 9.5lbs.)you're asking for problems. Anything in between the two (12.5lbs) is going to be on the border of problems...you'd haveto test it out with your setup and see if it's compatable.

Sure, there are people with stage ll clutches on their stock tranny's...and most people that do that end up upgrading because they blow it. I mean, if yours holds out on you, that's great! I blew my tranny with the stock clutch with only an uppy/downpipe with 40,000 miles. If you do plan on installing a stage ll clutch (which since you already have it and you're putting out a fair amount of power) I'd put aside a couple grand for a new tranny, drive it very easy, and hope for the best. At least this way it will give you some time to shop around for a good deal on a trans. Mine broke out of nowhere, and I ordered up RA's because they were the best choice at the time, but I wish I would've been able to pick up a 6 speed. Right now you're right at the border between stage l and a stage ll clutch. The choice is totally up to you. If you are going to pump more power out of your car (the flywheel will do quite a bit), then install the stage ll.

I'm running an ACT 9.6 lbs flywheel and 6 puck agressive clutch on my 2.5 rs. Never had anyproblems with the cam sensor. THERE IS A MISSFIRE RECALL check it out. I've been racing this car since 00'. Adding a light flywheel really makes the Subaru stand out. Well worth the mod. I think the stock wheel is around 29lbs.... I could be wrong though.

I'll have your flywheel in stock next week.

Prolight 9.6 lbs 600170 $329.99
Streetlight 13.9 lbs 600175 $293.00
Clutch ACT SB3-HDR6 527lbs 6 pad (clutch Kit) $573.00
