CV axle replacements?

I have an '02 wrx wagon and I just noticed a cv boot splitting. I hasn't broken all the way around yet and I am trying to decide if I can get away with a boot replacement or just bite the bullet and replace the whole axle. If I replace it I am curious as to what others of you might have used and how well they hold up. Help please. Oh and its the driver side and I have 120k miles if that helps any.

Make you use OEM boots, grease, & clamps.
No reason to replace the axle if just the boot is torn.
