Call the service number and inform them of your dealer giving you the brush-off... although I'm sure you already will or did. If you were in California I would also to you to call BAR about it. Do you have an equivalent to them in Illinois? Bureau of Automotive repair, that is.

Ive got the crappy clutch shudder, but ive also got another problem. At certain rpms this annoying noise appears. It sounds like an ash tray filled with change rattling. My guess is its the clutch disk springs spinning in their cups, no biggie but VERY annoying. Have any of you experienced this?

That rattle may be your clutch release bearing ,I get that noise when my car starts when it's cold out . With my problem you can change the noise by pushing the clutch in. My dealer is going to get an earfull this week when the car goes in, Thanks for all the info on the TSB#'s

If they tell you that they couldn't verify it, ask them to let you take a mechanic or service rep for a demo ride as early in the morning as possible. The shudder seems to be worse the colder and damper the air is.

Ya the rattling noise happens durring deceleration. It basically shows itself at any random point over 4k rpm with an expection of WOT. Throw out bearing might be the culprit. Anyone else heard of this? What do you think my local Subaru dealer would tell me? The car has 18.5k miles on it and I just bought it from the original owner.

Thanks guys!

What site are you looking at? There isn't a standard for numbering them, so each manufacturer does it different. Toyota's, for example, are based on the date of issue, the area of the problem (brakes, paint, electrical, etc.) and then the sequence number for that area. So unless you're searching some Subaru database, it won't work. The dealer should know how to look it up though, plus the service writers will know of it.
