Buzzing short throw...
I have the STi/SPT short throw shifter and every once and a while you'll hear a buzzing noise in between gears... and then it won't let you into the gear unless you double clutch or re-depress.
It's definitly not a gear grinding noise because I know what that sounds like, and it's not stubborn about going into gear as long as you throw the clutch in as soon as you hear or feel it about to buzz.. Although it happens more between the first three gears than it does higher ones, I think that may be coincidence.
Does anyone know what it is? Thats the only part I had installed by the dealer and is the only part giving me problems!! Is there a way to fix it? Could it be that something is installed incorrectly, too tight? too loose? HELP!

hey whats up,
does it do it all the time? or only during more agressive driving. I installed a BPM short throw shifter, this was just the lever not the linkage. but when i am driving hard it will buzz just like you say going from 3rd to fourth gear. It doesnt give me any problems getting into gear at all, just makes a buzzing noise.
the first thing that comes to mind is that the short throw shifters do not have the same properties as the stock shifter to absorb the noise and vibrations. Thats what i believe could be causing it. Some people try to put a peice of rubber tubing over the shift lever to try to absorb the vibrations.
If its just these vibrations then its probably normal, possibly could be fixed by loosening some of the bolts and then re-thightening them. but if its really giving you a hard time getting it into gear i would just take it back to the dealership and have them look at it.
hope that helps
