auto to manual swap?

hey i-club members,
i lived in NJ, and impreza 2.5rs is very hard to find. recenltly i purchase a automatic 2000 impreza2.5rs (i think also known as GC8, if im wrong please correct) from Penn. the only on i can find will the mileage, and the conditions!!

i would want to know if i could do a tranny swap from a 4 speed automatic to a 5 or 6 speed manual? how much will it cost roughly, and the sites which i can purchase 5/6 speed tranny for the impreza 2.5rs?

yes it is possible to do a conversion. I am going to do a conversion to my svx, I am going to buy a 1991 legacy tranny for about $300 US. Keep in mind that u need alot of other parts but it should work out to aroud $1000 US. The imprezza's and legacy's(except turbo) all shared the same tranny supposedly. The turbo legacy's had a hydraulic clutch instead of a cable clutch. if u decide to go with a junkyard tranny, I would opt to go for an aftermarket clutch such as this one if u are going to drive hard.

Call Subaru Parts. com, they carry ACT clutch sets, Just tell them you want the ACT Clutch Kit 94-03 Impreza AWD, It should bolt right up.
