It's an 08 2.5i Impreza with 7255 miles (I picked it up at 5700 miles). Ever since I picked it up it's made a weird CLUNK sound after I take it out of park. It only happens once and then it's fine for the rest of the drive. I've taken the car on many a car trip already (hence the miles ). Never fails to Clunk though...

is this normal or should I get it checked out?

 

i woudl def get that checked out. if you have a warranty and anythign come sup just take it in and let them tell you its nothing.

maybe have them swap that AT out for a MT.

 

Are you parking on a hill or incline/decline?

Try this the next time you park your car...

when you park your car, keep your foot on the foot brake;
apply emergency/hand brake;
let go of foot brake;
let vehicle 'lurch' forward/backward;
place gear selector in Park.

This ensures that the weight of the vehicle is resting on the brake (less costly to repair) versus the transmission.

That should alleviate the 'clunk' your hearing and relieve the pressure on the park gear.
