98L speed sensor replacement help

my 98L has a bad speed sensor in the tranny, i was wondering if anyone could tell me where it is located and if i can replace it myself without dropping the tranny out or anything major like that.
its driving me nuts judging speed by the tachometer, and i want the mileage to be accurate, so any help would be much appriciated
