Arrow 6 MT swap update...Going not so good.

K this is another in the ongoing uphill battle with this dam 6 speed.

I bought a 93 Loyale rear diff. 3.90 gear ratio. No limited slip. Took apart my WRX diff, took out the limited slip, swapped the ring gear on to, and placed into the Loyale housing. Now i have a Loyale rear diff, with limited slip, gear the same. Easy enough.

NOW, this is what happens. I install the diff, connect everything, get the driveline to go back to the rear diff, but WAIT! The dam holes dont line up! Perfect length, but the holes on the Loyale input flange are too narrow and close together for anymore then one bolt to go in.... Sigh....

So anyways, NOW i need to think up a new genius plan to get this thing to work.. I thought about taking the flange off my WRX housing (which the holes line up) and swapping just the flange. But, the big fat nut on the front of the diff is pressed on.

So now im fustrated, and been without my WRX for a month now. If any suggestions light up in anybody's minds out there, please share! My dam light is all burnt out.

what's wrong with your old diff. just use that casing... for now.. just drive it... do nothing else until you can get what you need.

yes...I do believe that you just swap everything you need into you stock housing. That way is should bolt up and have all the goodies you need. Thats what was done when they put the Sti tranny into my wrx.

well i got my 6spd installed with the R160 diff. but i had to change the R160 diff flange to the drive shaft. the bolt pattern is off. so i had to get a R180 flange. overall the car runs fine... i even hard lanched it a few times at 7,500 rpm. i love this tranny. The WRX clutch fits fine inside the 6spd bell housing. you don't need the 6spd clutch assy. cause it is all the same. on the 2.5 rs, i heard that the bolt pattern for the flywheel is different. but all the WRX from overseas since 1992 and the state side WRX clutch assy. fits fine in the 6spd tranny... i have a ORC twin plate in it. everything else works...

i don't have the 6spd install pictures but i do have some pictures.

aft looking forward, the left side.

The PCD on the rear diff input shaft is different depending on the model year.

What year is your 6MT? What kind of driveshaft are you using?

the 6spd is off of a 04 STI and the drive shaft came with it. i didn't get the R180 diff so i tried to see if i could use mine. as long it has 3.90 gear ratio i was fine... when i installed the 6spd and the drive shaft, the bolt flange from the front of the diff was off.... infact it was bigger. so i went and got a R180 flange from Subaru dealer and it fit fine.
