So my 02 5MT grinds when engaging in 1st gear. The shifter goes in fine and is actually smooth since I just changed the gear oil. However I have this issue about 80% of the time. My clutch is slipping pretty bad so would that be a possible cause? Getting a new clutch done at RBMS this week.

 

Oh and the grind goes away often after driving for a least 15 minutes. Which isnt much help since my drive to work is 10 lol

 

Ended up being the clutch...in case anyone ever runs into this issue. But im probably just talking to myself here
