If you can duplicate it on a regular basis just have the dealer fix it. Apparently there is a rash of bad synchro's out.

Jesus....it seems like everyone is having this problem. Is SOA doing anything about this yet?

It seems to be many problems out there, and SOA is not doing much about it.

Mine only does it when the transmission is hot. Bringing the car into the dealer to reproduce it is problematic because I show up at the dealer, then wait for a long time before taking a tech on a test drive. I am planning to do it again before my 60K power train warranty is up, and I will take that tech for an hour long cruise if necessary. This issue of first gear grinding at a dead stop is the only thing that stands in my way of a new Legacy...

Good luck though i think the techs themselves will need to drive it to rule out um "driver error" so to speak. Don't quote me on that though.

It would be difficult to get it taken care off I think with the mods unless you get a friendly neighborhood dealer. I have the same problem now after changing my gear oil with regular Valvoline gear oil 80w90. I am thinking I may need to add GM Synchromesh at least to see if that is able to take care of it.

Good luck by the way.
