4EAT squeal on shifts

Hello all,

Has anyone experienced any loud squealing while shifting from D to R or vice versa?

I first heard it a few weeks ago but dismissed it as maybe a tire rubbing on a greasy road since I was steering while reversing. It only happened for a second or two. I didn't hear it again until...tonight.

I was doing some parking manuevers and I heard the same loud squealing during the R and D shifts. But when I try to reproduce it right after, it's gone.

However, If I listen closely, there is a very slight squeal whenever I shift from D to R and vice versa. But definetly not as loud as what I heard the other two times that caused alarm. This happens when the car is warm or hot.

Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated. I'd hate to make a trip to the dealer.

Had my 02 4eat for over 2 years and never heard a noise while shifting f to r or viceversa
