Question 2004 STi CV SHAFT NUT TORQUE?

I have read all the info I could find on the front wheel bearing replacement but have one question. What is the torque on the CV shaft nut. I have seen 162 ft/lbs. It seems like this would kind of set the "pre-load" on the wheel bearings to this level and there is not really any other adjustment for the bearings. Then you stake the nut so it won't back off. Does that sound right to anyone else who has done this before? Thanks, Brian

I stand on a 3 foot long breaker bar and then pin it over.

so the 162 sounds right I just don't have a torque wrench that goes that high.

I have never had a problem with the standing on a long breaker bar method.

on front hub/pressed in bearings, there isn't a load preset, only on cars that still have inner/outter bearings, which are mainly american pos's. i would probably just call your subaru dealer and ask them, just make sure you don't tighten it too much, i've seen a car come into the shop with a hub/bearing exploded because it was too tight.
