Any body out there having any problems with there 06 tranny. My friend's 06 tranny just went out. The has only 13000 miles.

 

Interesting...what exactly happened? Break some teeth, synchros go out,...? I almost bought one but went with the RA gears in my 03 WRX.

 

blow out 2 gear and some teeth in main shaft

 

is it modded? does he race it? does he launch it often? 13k miles on a '06???

went to the track 3 times the only mod he has is down pipe. he ran 13.9

 

How is he launching? Sounds pretty abusive for a stock 06 to hit a 13.9....

 

Actually, 13.9 is an average time for an 06 WRX. Here's a guy that's running 13.7's on a bone stock 06 WRX...

And whether or not he is launching it abusively, we do not know. He broke 2nd gear, so it's not his launches, it's his 1-2 shift that most likely killed it.

 

I think Marc's still in denial that the new wrx's have 2.5L's

 

Subaru Tranny + Standing quarter drag strips + AWD = broken tranny.

why is this so hard for people to learn??

The WRX is not designed to be launched, maybe with the STI tranny you will get away with it for a bit longer, but if you wanna put down good quarter mile times, be prepared to pay.
