Round 2: Bone Stock '06 WRX TR 1/4 mile times

I went to Richmond Dragway in Sandston, VA for round 2 Sunday! The track is ~100ft above sea level and according to the National Weather Service conditions were as follows:

Temp: 55 deg F (at time of 1st run), 60 deg F (at time of my 2nd run)
Relative Humidity: 24 %
Barometer: 30.14 in. Hg
Dewpoint: 20°F (-7°C)

My car is 100% bone stock with 6,800 miles on the odometer. I'm running a 'true' factory stock set-up (nothing from the intake, intake resonator, turbo, intercooler, exhaust, engine management, etc has been changed). I used Shell 93 octane gas (had just over a 1/4 tank) and my tire pressures were set at 40psi all around. Only weight reduction I did was remove my spare tire (left jack in the trunk). I weigh 170lbs.

I got to the track early and my engine was able to cool for 1.5 hours before my first pass. I made 2 passes and launched at 5,000rpms w/ clutch slip. I'm car #22:

Run 1 (I bogged the launch)
60ft: 2.0688
330ft: 5.8446
1/8th: 8.9866
MPH: 79.44
1/4: 13.9679
MPH: 98.53

Run 2 (decent launch)
60ft: 1.9433
330ft: 5.6327
1/8th: 8.7650
MPH: 79.31
1/4: 13.7468
MPH: 98.25

Holy cow! Your times are unreal for a stock WRX! Those runs are like STi territory...and with better 60ft times (1.7-1.8) you'll be killin them. That kinda makes me wonder how fast my car is with RA gears...

Keep up the good times!

Thanks. Yeah, 13.7 is definitely in the territory of what an average 'stock' STI driver would do on an average day. It's funny, I posted this on Clubwrx and an STI owner posted that he just ran a 13.8 bone stock in his car - the people who responded said his time was slow as a stock '06 WRX did the 1/4 in 13.7!

P.S. With a 1.7-1.8 60ft, mid 13's would definitely happen!

Wow, awesome! Keep up the good work. Yup with a 1.7-1.8 60 ft. you will be in the mid 13's. Your MPH shows that you have enough power to do it.

Thanks folks. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon, as I'll be switching my focus to SCCA autoX action. My goal was to break into the 13's with my stock car - which I've met.

Correct. Premium fuel at most gas stations in VA is 93 octane. In some places, you can even get 94. I just use Shell 93 to maintain consistency.

I used to live by Pittsburgh.... 94 Super BP

in cali next best thing is 91 Arco (BP owned) maybe add 2 cans of octane boost or just goto a 76 by Sonoma or Stockton...

Nice times man

very impressive times, i just ran my stage2 at sac raceway & hit a 13.74 @ 97.4mph w/ a 1.89 60ft damn cali 91- next time ill get some octane boost & run the 93oct map

EDIT: i just noticed my 1/8th mile was faster - 8.702 @ 78.856mph.... must be the low octane killing my top end, or im shifting into 4th too soon

Nice. Your 91 Cali gas is definitely killing your times. There's a guy over on clubwrx who ran a 13.4 @ 100mph with his stage 2 '06 WRX - and he felt he was leaving a few tenths on the table.

Thumbs up

i might be able to pick up a tenth on the cali gas... i was looking at your shift points and realized i was shifting a lot sooner, about 6k in each gear but i think my launches are pretty solid. im probably gonna go back to track when i get a vf39 cause i dont want to beat her up too much before i even get some serious mods
