what gearset is best for dragging

Question what gearset is best for dragging

02 rex 240 whp 63000 miles ...second gear against a modded 1.8t jetta kaboom ...go figure didnt see that coming lol ....n e one have sucess with the cheaper r/a sti gears?? or should i go ppg or something ...im looking for a mid 12 second car eventually..mid 13's for now though

if you still have the 5speed... that is your weak point right there... even with a ppg gearset, you still have the chance of failure because the 5speed housing just can't withstand that much abuse... start out with a sti 6speed swap.... you can get one without the dccd controller and the tranny will automatically default into 35/65 torque bias which is good to dragging or tracking or pretty much anything you do with the car...

I was thinking of the ppg dogbox too, but I found out from mike at gst motorsports what I just said above... so think about that... you'll have less problems in the end with the same amount of money you are going to spend on a ppg gearset swap because the sti 6speed is almost bulletproof

Go with MFactory for a few hundred $$ more.
