launching

My sti is finally broken in. But im sorta hesitant to launch because ive never launched is an awd. ive launched in rear and front wheel drive cars. If any one has any best practices and tips for launching please post.

Just keep launching. It's like learning to drive stick. If you picked up a stick with ease, then launching should be as easy. I sometimes launch better than others, probably due to variables like weather. So don't get down on your self if you mess up, and don't worry about the clutch. If you can't seem to do it once after 10 times in a row then worry about the clutch. You don't want to destroy it. One thing that helps is when your driving, engage the clutch slowly and practice that. Pretty much the same thing as hill holding except your releasing. This will train your muscles and mind where the grap point is so you don't hold it too long or short when launching. I rev to 4500 or 5 grand, hold or rev for a second, and let it rip. As you let the clutch out, you step on the gas more and more till you are flyin.

don't launch too hard, even 6MT's aren't indestructible, plus it has a stock clutch...

He sort of forgot to mention how much the stock clutch and 5MT don't like 1.8 60 foot times.
