A Problem Maybe?
long story short...
I launched 05 STI at 6500 RPM tonight and my car barely moved off the line and made a LOUD banging noise and the car died. Started it up again and turned the Locker off and it made another loud bang.... DID I BREAK SOMETHING????? My friend has been drag racing it the same way for 6 months and have never heard anything like this.
I have a reflash and a downpipe on my car...its making 273tq and 248whp...
please someone help me out so i can calm my nerves.

Yeah it was. But truthfully, if you heard a LOUD bang and the car died, then yes, you probably really did break something. I mean, how often does your car just up and die with a bang when everything is A-OK?

If i wanted some SMART *** answers i would of asked for it. So stop being smart asses and just answer the question without being rude. Thats what i hate about people on this forum. bunch of rude asses.
AND for you people that are being a bunch of smart asses....nothing seems to be broken because the car started right up and made it home like a champ.

My guess is the clutch plate couldn't handle the load, so it slipped bad enough to cause you to stall. I wouldn't recommend trying that too many more times, however, unless you take it to Infineon on Wednesday nights, where we can all watch and learn from your technique.

It would be difficult not to get the same reaction with hundreds of people viewing in any other forum since people know how brittle this cars tranny is when abused.
Good to hear it's good though.

my friend was talking to a tuner at BOZZ performance before and he said that the STI transmission can handle the 6k drops. i tink it was Shiv or someone who he talked to.
i really hope that the clutch just slipped real bad too. It sounds resonable enough.

Not a good idea.
sounds like you busted a gear. You jacked something up in the driveline.
how's it running now?
I'm hoping this is some kind of lame *** April fools joke.
If it's not...good luck getting that warrantied. not gonna happen.
basically dropping like that is not a good idea in AWD cars.

this isnt any april fools joke.
i dont think i busted a gear because it drove home fine last night.
and i also attemted to launch it at 4 to see if anything was broken. and nothing seemed to be broken.
drove home. didnt hear any unusual noise, and drove it this morning and everything seemed fine. i think the clutch plate slipped really hard too....cuz right after i dropped the clutch it just made a loud noise and stalled. so most likely?
