I've had a few vr6's and those things are beasts on the highway. I've suprised a lot of people. So I wouldn't feel bad losing to one on the highway. My one gti ran a 14.7 with just a chip/intake. But once you're above about 4k rpm...those things just pull like crazy.
coradslos are cute. but their kinda heavy. my old crew had two of them in it. both had engine work done and ran a small shot of NoS. both did low to high 13's back in 94'. and that was fast for a coradslo. haha waste of money seems like they spend most of their time not on the road but in the repair shop

Corrado's are very cool cars. I was thinking about getting one but they have realiability issues that I don't want to deal with. They do have a lot of top end pull and if he had the Schrick intake manifold which is the only one I know of for those cars then I am not surprised that he got by you. BTW maybe i'm wrong (and it's quite possible) but I didn't think that turo timers did anything for performance.

i own a 93 corrado vr6
its much nicer and faster and handles better than my 04rs
i havent taken it to the track yet, but i will probably in september when i take the rs to the track, most people report running 15.3 -15.5 in bone stock form, the vr6 is pusing out 176hp and about 180lb of tq, i think the car weighs in at 2800lb tho
they are very very fast on the freeway, i pulled from 80mph to 130mph in just a few seconds, i was toying with a impala ss who fell way back when i decided to floor it, probably woulda been faster if i downshifted to 4th
