Easy Street runs at a mile high
Well Easystreet is now officially the fastest Subaru to run at 5800 ft altitude.
Yesterday Bandimere Speedway held the Coys Import and Sport Compact Challenge drag race.
We had a total of 412 cars that took tech inspection and 314 of the cars actually ran in competition. Of this total the Rockymountain area had 7% of the field in subaru's. A total of 23 subarus showed the colors. There were enough of us to get special mention from the track announcer about how many were running.
15 ran in S/M
5 ran in S/C
1 ran in Pro Am
1 ran in Street 8
3 no showed at least one lost low gear on a 100 hp shot of N2O
It was a fun day all things considered.
WRXHarvey of course had his adventure with the transmission and so did Easy Street when he broke the engine at about 120+ mph.
First time at high alitude with an all new motor and other bits, Easy Street only got one qualifying pass, before time ran out for qualifications. Made it in the show with an 11 second pass, against a bump of mid 13's so they were in the middle of the field on one pass.
Won their first pass in eliminations and put down a 10.061 pass. ( that pass corrects to a 9.76 at sealevel based on NHRA altitude correction factors)
Obviously to find over a second and a half in a single pass with a new motor in a first attempt at 5800 ft altitude the crew was doing a great job. I've seen folks come up here with well sorted cars and fight with the tune all week end.
Thumbs up for getting in the middle of the field in a single pass.
The third pass was an all or nothing pass against John Shepard in his 91 Talon, one of the fastest cars in the field and Ali broke the motor on the big end just about mid strip. It was a very impressive run too !!! Very strong Looked like they were going to trailer the other car when things let go.
Not sure of all the details so will let Ali post any details he wishes to discuss.
As the old racers saw goes, if your not breaking parts your not pushing hard enough!! Great job guys, I heard some chatter in the stands and folks were impressed with your car.
We got some good exposure for Subarus today, even the announcer commented on how many Subarus were running and that they were quickly becoming a car to contend with at the strip.
Okay here's the times and speeds:
Temps on the track were in the mid 80's
Barometer corrected to Sea Level ranged from 30.2 - 30.14, falling during the day.
Absolute Barometer was 23.41 in/hg at 10:14 am.
Easy Street's times ---
Qualifying run:
11.607 @126.67
1st comp run:
10.061 @ 139.41
second comp run: (lost engine at mid track)
10.457 @ 113.21
Way to go guys !!!! There were quite a few other folks that noticed all the Subies running.
