very close but it does fit without mods to the radiator or crossmember

same engine but the 212hp version the tribeca is 250hp
there is enough for a turbo but from what i understand the cylinders are so close that only very low boost could be used

All of you need to go to a dealership and look under the hood of the Tribeca. That engine is HUGE, and everything has been relocated, from the brake system and A/C lines to the oil filler, transmission fluid, all the belted accessories and many other systems. As for swapping in an STI engine, you couldn't do it for numerous reasons; the engine bay is wide but short, no place for an intercooler, etc. etc.
This is a 3.0 liter engine, people -- trust me, it can make power. Leave it right where it is and start tuning

everything should still bolt up from any EJ
and the length on the EZ-30 was only 1" longer than a EJ and the only thing different is the EZ-30r has AVCS right?
is the tribeca a new chassis?

Yes, the Tribeca is a new chasis. Its bigger then the Legacy chasis.
The EZ30 engine has been put into an Impreze shell before, and the EZ30-R is essentially the same engine (like Kay95 said, same motor but with AVCR). The Outbacks and Legacy's have had them for years, and the EZ motors are meant to bolt up to essentially to the same spots an EJ motor does (at least, in the Legacy).
I know I've seen this project done. Its not exactly easy, but nor is it hard. You'll probably need to relocated bits, but you wouldn't have to fab new mounts. At least, if it truly is the same EZ30 that is in the Outbacks and Legacy's (which it should be).
It actually fits better then the SVX motor (which is an EG33 I believe). The EG was just designed to be a massive motor without consideration to anything else, whereas the EZ30 was designed to fit into cars that usually come with an EJ.
