www.gruppe-s.com .. umm they have jspec crate motors for sale.. check em out.. and as far as differences ... jspec = redline 8500 .. uspec = 7000 . jspec is 2.0 L producing 280, and u can get a vf30 or vf 34. and on the usdm models, it's 2.5 L with 300hp with a vf 39

Since you live in the land of the C.A.R.B. ***** (I call them this and I'm a environmental policy graduate ) I'd say find a USDM EJ207 or EJ257 shortblock to drop in. Keep your RS gearing (very close to Type RA) and call it a day.

Personally if I was to do my swap over again I would have done a USDM EJ207 w/every bolt on emaginable. I wouldn't want to deal w/the TBW set up on the EJ257.

My current set up is an EJ257 shortblock w/JDM STi Ver. III heads/intake/ECU. The Ver. III stuff is the drawback since it's a Phase 1.5 motor and there's not much available for it and if there is you have to really search for it overseas.

I definitely LOVE the torque of the EJ257 though.

Just wondering....

But do you guys ever carry used V7 or V8 motors, for a cheaper price? I myself am looking at one, and so is a freind of mine, but nearly 9k for a new motor is a bit steep for either of our budgets, especally w/o a ECU, Turbo, Intercooler, and especally the harness. It probably is a good price for a *brand* new motor, but do you have any offerings for those of us who can only get a hold of something used?

We carry used v7 v8 motors that are complete. If you have any questions let me know. Our motors come with the turbo, intercooler, ecu, wiring and injectors.

No such thing as a USDM EJ207...our STi blocks are the EJ257s.

Also, look into www.LICMotorsports.com They do 50 state smog legal swaps, JDM or USDM, you choose, although pricing might choose for you. They are also in the North SF Bay Area, so fairly close to you in Sac.

As far as power, you will have to push he 2.0L farther to get the torque numbers the 2.5Ls will put out, BUT, the JDM 2.0Ls are extremely impressive from the factory. The Ver. 7 EJ207 with its forged internals from the factory, as well as the AVCS(USDM EJ257s have as well) but the Ver. 7's have seen 24psi on pump gas with no problems, and 30psi on race gas. Then, there is the higher redline like mentioned above...the JDM STi's rev to 8,000, and the Spec C's to 8,500rpm.

I personally went the JDM route with a Ver. 7 EJ207. It isnt int the car just yet, but I have done plenty of research and am very happy with my choice, and its not even in yet. International B here on the forum has the same engine I do, and at ATP in San Jose, put down 250whp on 96 octane with a turbo back, no tuning, stock JDM ECU.

I got my front clip from FLI. Great guys, Miles and Ryan. Very willing to help you out and get you what you need. Bought my parts from FLI, LIC is doin the work

Smog is no prob man, Im living in Novato and my car will be registered no problem...LIC can do it for you. I will PM you with details if you like, just let me know. Adam has worked on 3 JDM swaps so far including a Ver. 7 Spec C, all three passed no problem, state ref smog at that.
