Trade it in for an STi. You are going to need a lot of stuff. It'll be much easier and cheaper to avoid this project. You could swap the engine, but if you want the suspension, brakes, and everything else that the STi has that the RS doesn't, just trade it in. Sorry, I'm sure this wasn't the possitive, encouraging news that you were hoping for.

Is there a transmission you can put in the STI to make it an automatic without tearing up the transmission...

The transmission should bolt up.

You would need to change out the pilot (ladies) bearing.

Problem is I doubt the tranny will hold the power. You would really need to sit the RS and an STi side by side and do a comparrison. ECU would be another problem all together.

Like said before, you'll need to upgrade brakes, suspension to have the car set up to handle the power.

Learn how to drive stick. I'm 16 and I can drive stick as well as I can drive an auto... if you know how to drive stick well, then I'm curious about what your reason is for wanting an automatic? I, personally, would never take an automatic car over a manual :-|

it's going to suck if you and your gf break up and you see all the money you spent for a slower car just so your gf could drive it. make it stick

Huh? I've let my gf (now fiance) drive my Audi S4 ('01), STi, etc. It's just a car, and she had to learn to drive a MT sometime. That is, unless you don't trust your gf?

WTF....thousands of dollars so your GF can drive it too? Tell her to learn stick. I would not trust an AT to hold that much power on a day to day basis. I'll be pushing almost 300 bhp at rally-x's, but theres no way I'd do it every day (yeah, I have a 4EAT)
