Never put the DCCD into manual mode and anywhere near 50/50 on anything where you get grip, you'll frack your center diff. I only use mine in 50/50 on dirt, gravel, and snow... Surfaces where tires can slip. Honestly, on the black stuff there is no reason to play with the DCCD. Some people contend that it helps you launch while dragging, but you really shouldn't be dragging an Impreza anyways...

I agree, and why wouldn't you want to use that cares ECU to find traction rather than limiting to a manual adjustment. Leave that thing in Auto on the launch.

Is that even English? I think you meant, "I agree. Why wouldn't you want to use the ECU to find traction, rather than limiting yourself to a manual adjustment? Leave that thing in auto on the launch."

Yes, that's basically it. I was pre-occupied when I posted that. I'm an idiot.

hmmm... thats kind of an under statement dont you think... thats just like saying you shouldnt drag an evo, or a gsx because of the AWD but yet AWD is one of the biggest advantages to dragging the car.. anyone can drag a car.. its just knowing how to launch is whats critical.. and also if thats the truth... what else would my wednesday night be good for...

I made the remark more because the majority of people think sliding their foot off the side of the clutch with their right foot buried in the gas pedal is the right way to do it, not because you shouldn't be doing it. There are safe techniques to launch an Impreza, yes. But you still shouldn't need to play with the DCCD to do it; letting the center differential sense where the power should be going is probably best, but I'm sure people will say otherwise. I don't really care.
