you won't need an ECU. The ECU is the same for both types of transmission. However, there is a connector, number 29, that is for tranmission identification so you'll just unplug it when switching to manual. It reads voltage from the Automatic but not the manual.

Aside from the transmission itself you'll need shift ****, shift lever, linkage, clutch cable, clutch pedal, smaller brake pedal, clutch kit, flywheel, and all of the assorted hardware that goes along with that. Also 93 Impreza automatics have 3.900 ratio in their differentials and 93 manuals use a 4.111 diff so you will need to replace the rear differential to a 4.111 if you wan't to use it. Or if you plan on using the newer wrx manual transmission they have 3.900 in them and so you wouldn't need to change the rear diff. you might also want to see if the drive shafts are different lengths between automatic and manual

yes, however, WRX transmissions have hydrolic clutches. So instead of a clutch cable you will need parts like hydrolic lines and the slave cylinder... also this would require a WRX flywheel.

don't be affraid to use the search button i know there are quite a few threads that go throught all this
