Wheel Help

So I like the design of the rims on my 2008 wrx wagon, but I am not too fond of the color. I have heard that I can get them powder coated. Dose anybody know how long, and how nice this powder coating will last. I dont want it to look like junk in a year or two. Also if I decide to go this route dose anybody know where to take the wheels and an estimated cost. Any info would be cool thanks guys.

Ya, Justin (Jebb) got his wheels powder coated. Hit him up for pricing and stuff.

As far as how long they'll last, I've never heard of a good powder coat going out within a few years. Maybe contact the company you go with for a guarantee/warranty. I'd imagine there would be a very good one against powder coating material and application.

Yup... i had mine done at a place in Modesto...BWM Powder Coating 209-526-9312. They charged me $55 a wheel and did an amazing job. The powder coat is SUPER strong and they'll back up their work. I got my tires taken off at costco... cheapest place you'll find. just my .02

I got my stock wheels powdercoated, and other than curbings, they've held up great. Only, I got them semi-gloss black and they look a little blueish in some light.

DON'T spray paint them. I did that to my 06s wheels until it started to come off a while later.

Powder coating is far superior to rattle can paint. It is much more durable and some shops guarantee their work which is nice and its not that expensive either.

I'm planning on getting my motorcycle wheels powder coated Subaru gold on my blue yamaha r6.

I painted my wheels on my Forester with some special polyurethane wheel paint and it lasted a really long time. I used duplicolor wheel paint (2 coats)+clear coat on my wrx wheels and it chipped very very easily, i found myself having to touch it up every few days. Not too happy with it.

I sanded my wheels down, 3 coats of duplicolor primer, 3 coats of duplicolor paint and no clear.

I just scotchbrited mine. No primer. But I did use the wheel paint which didn't say anything about using primer.
