accessports are 695,you are basically paying for a tune and a piece of plastic.if you go to ed at eq he does opensource tuning for 400,everycar is differant and responds differantly my stage 1 has fuel cut in 5th gear but others who use the same map have no problems, I guess what I'm saying is there is no substitute for personalized maps
def. go with a protune or opensource tune, do not go with an OTS map or one that has been passed around. There are too many horror stories and problems with these maps, I would hate to see your new STi go down the ****ter.
XPT is great as long as you taker the proper steps when doing it.
Make sure to Logg your car and send your loggs to Braden, He will make the proper adjustments if needed.
Its not hard to do.

Subaru can't detect an AP though. It's worth the $$$ IMO for an AP w/ a few MAPs and being able to change them "on the fly" without risk to warranty denial.
I'd just hate to see a new 08 STI under 36k w/ bad engine that gets a warranty denied at Subaru and will cost a few grand to repair.
Tuners have Cobb AP specials w/ custom tunes incl. with the purchase. You shouldn't have fuel cut at all. Cobb offers high/low wgdc ots maps if needed.
No matter what you'll get w/ a custom tune.

The difference between an OTS map and a professionally tuned one is literally night and day. I was driving around as grandma as I could with a FMIC on a cobb map designed for a TMIC. Point being: small changes in mods can lead to dangerous situations that the OTS map is not designed for. Power wise my 2.0L VF34 setup made something like 40HP and 30TQ more
when Ed was done tuning compared to the OTS. A professional tune is the best bang for the buck mod you can do on pretty much any performance car. Whether the tuner likes tuning on: open source, XPT, cobb is up to them.
