Need some serious CA law advice and help!

alright for those of you who are going to bash me for posting this and tell me to go somewhere else and search for it... I ALREADY DID! and no one had the same situation as me.

alright so here it goes. I received a ticket for modified emissions CA code and section 27156 (b) VC. now does that include my exhaust? I was sent to a ref and have not gone yet since i just received the ticket a week ago. however i received a courtesy notice in the mail that had yet another citation in it for modified exhaust. VC 27150... however this one is correctable for officer sign off... im lost at this point...

these are the two things that we cam up with for reasons...

1. according to a friend CA no longer has room n its budget for a BAR... so our thoughts on the matter were the cop wrote up an old code and realized his mistake therefore sent us another citation in the mail that allows a correction via officer sign off.

2. the officer decided that he wanted to write me up for modified exhaust and emissions and sent me another ticket.

any insight from the fellow subaru members?

go to court, after you put your stock exhaust on and get the 27150 signed off. im sure it will be fine.

What he said^

Can I ask where you got this ticket? I'd be really surprised if you got this up in Copper?

How long after the first ticket did the officer send you the other ticket after he realized the mistake? Two reasons I ask.....one is that there is a statute of limitations law menaing after a certain amount of days, a complaint/citation/issue can no longer be pursued. The statute of limitations law is different for different areas of law and I am not sure what it is for citations in regards to vehicle modification. Second reason is that I believe in order to have a valid citation, the person being cited needs to be present and also sign in person so if indeed the officer realized his mistake later on and sent out a new citation in the mail, I would think it would not hold up in court.
