(SoCal) 02 Impreza WRX JDM EJ255 RA Gearset
I have a 2002 WRX Sedan in Midnight Black Pearl. The chassis has about 135,000 miles on it. Most of the miles were freeway as I had a 60 mile roundtrip commute everyday 6 days a week ever since I had the car. I am the original owner since June 2002 and the car has a clean title. I am sorry to see it go, but I am moving out of the country.
At around 88,000 miles, 2nd gear was shattered because the shop I chose to change my clutch let some stupid kid test drive it without my knowledge. So I swapped out the gears with the STI RA 5speed cryo-ed gearset from Rallispec and had the dealer install them. I was trying to get the shop back by finding the most expensive place I can think of and actually, it wasn't that bad. I was quoted about the same price at some local reputable subaru shops. Subaru of Riverside used to kick butt in terms of service, but unfortunately, they closed.
At 112K-ish, I felt that the car was acting a bit funny so I took it for a compression test and cylinders 1 and 4 were failing. Without opening valve covers, it was presumed that cylinder 1's exhaust valves were lazy and not opening right and cyliner 4 had low compression...98 was the number I believe. So I ordered an EJ255 (I thought it was a 257) from Gruppe-S and had it installed. My regular mechanic wanted a shot at it so I had him do all the work on the swap. It worked out great and the EJ255 and a VF30 dynoed at 282awhp at only 16.5psi and 91 octane.
There is some not so good news to all this though. Number one being the exterior. There is some damage to the front end due to a slow speed collision in traffic (definitely under 10mph, but no time for brakes). The hood has a slight lift from the front due to it. Also, the road debris is really bad where I work, thus there are a lot of paint chips in the front of the car. Other than that, there are just a few dings (6 at last count) that come with the territory of living in plaza-filled SoCal.
Second thing is that the clutch chatters during low speed take offs. That occured during the tuning session. It took 22 runs on the dyno to find a good mild map. Those runs may have heated the clutch a little too much. It is a Stage 1 Exedy on a ACT Streetlite flywheel. The clutch still works fine. Taking off with a little more revs solves the problem of the chatter and it holds all the other gears just fine.
Last thing, I think there is a small crack in my uppipe. I really do not want to go through changing it out again, so I will buy one, definitely going with a flex pipe this time, and may end up leaving it up to the buyer to have it installed. I am only guessing at it since it is boosting fine at 16.5psi just like it is supposed to.
So that is it. I would like to sell this car ASAP because I do have to head back abroad so shoot me an offer. Better yet, give me a call so you can come by and take a look at it. I am sure I can still find some roads around here to show it off a little. Below, you will find the spec list and my contact info.

JDM EJ255 Longblock on WRX intake manifold

Tein S-Tech Springs on stock struts, highway cruiser
Cusco Titanium Front Strut Bar
Rota Subzero 17 x 7.5

Eclipse CD82xx, I forgot, will update
Eclipse 4 x 100 amp
Unknown subwoofer amp, will replace

Things that will come with the car:
All stock components including all cats and exhaust parts, springs, rims, original ej205 block, jdm ej255 intake manifold, jdm ej255 engine accessories i.e. a/c compressor, oil pump, etc.
Stock Radio with 6 disc changer
Cobb V1 Accessport will all cables and manuals
Clear side markers that were never installed
STi Titanium shift **** and Legacy GT shift **** as well as stock
HKS sequential blow off valve, took it off, but its yours with the car
I am asking $12,500 for the car. Seems like pretty good value to me considering the mods. Like I mentioned before, I do not want to use up my time in trying to fix the little issues with it now. If there are no serious offers, though, I will take the time to fix those small issues and just tack it on the price. If you are interested or just have a simple question, let me know.
