i have the factory short throw...i can put it into the right gate for the gear but then u have to wait for the revs....i can shift fast..but its if i dont wait for the revs to drop and force the car into the gear which makes it lurch ...

A 1.5 liltre engine and its lighter flywheel have a lot less angular momentum and will obviously take less time to spin up and down. Similarly, my bike engine would make your Honda look like it was slow to spin up/down.

How intrusive this lag is depends on how often you need to shift. The V-TEC engines need to be kept 'on the boil' which means frequent shifts and you can't afford to lose time between them. The WRX only revs to 6k(ish) and you don't need to shift as often.

it's not necessarily slower...you just have to ease into the clutch when you engage it. these AWD cars jerk with sloppy shifting.

i shift rather sloppily in my honda and more conservatively in my WRX. it's not slower though.

When shifting from first to second, I feel like I have to wait a split second longer than most small cars in order to get a good shift. Also, unlike most front drivers, if you don't wait for the revs to be nicely matched you are greeted with a "thunk" from the rear differential to remind you that you dumped the clutch too soon.

Would I prefer that second gear was a bit shorter? yes. Is it a big deal? no.

i don't know how to shift either... downshift that is ...
my heel is too fast that my right hand can't keep up

on a sidenote- i sell hondUhs now. nothing feels great like a shifter in a subaru- (in terms of imports) maybe its my perception of the direct feel of the shifter into the tranny versus a cable connection- (as in FWD vehicles)

give it time. i get 0-60 times of 5.57 to 8.9 depending on how well i shift in a stock car. don't mash the throttle to the floor- it has a sweet spot.
