Question wrx? or VW gti/jetta 1.8t?

Hi guys,

i have been lusting for a wrx for quite a while, and i believe i will be purchasing (well not me but my parents) a car really soon. Like this week or next weekend. Anyways i went with a friend to test drive the veedubz, both the gti and the jetta 1.8t. Interior wise, i can say it's so nice. However i have still not yet test drive a wrx yet and i know, i should, but so far, i'm really impressed with the veedubz. 2 of my friends have vw, 1 with a gti, and 1 with a jetta, and 2 of my friends have a wrx, one with a 02, and one with a 03. Any suggestions guy? I know the wrx should still be the answer, but i just want some feedback from people who's also been in these cars before or something like that, so they can help me make my decision and of course go with the wrx.

hehe, thank so for the input guys, oh yea, for the parents making decision, since i'm only 18, and this is going to be my first car, they are willing to pay up to 25,000 car plus my insurance, and i'm thinking my insurnace will be about 3000? a year?. so that's why i'm choosing these cars, and if i get the vw jetta1.8t it will be fully loaded, my friend just got one for 23,000 out the door, FULLY LOADED, but my other friend who just got the rex got a bare rex for a little less than 24,000 out the door.

But remember, a barebones WRX is a hell of a good car. I am a huge VW guy, but after driving the WRX, I wouldn't trade it for a 1.8T

a fully loaded rex is a waste of $$...mid 30s OTD...most of the accessories are worthless...if you like them you can always get them for MUCH less $ online........people have gotten the wrx for 500+ under invoice (03)...so i would go with a stripped 03 wrx...if ur lucky and get ur parents to pay for mods you can get a few basic things and still be under 25000...good luck

P.S. insurance might less than 3000...and i would wait for the 04s to come...the dealers are gonna be dying to get the 03s off the lot

heheh, i WISH they would pay for mods, the only mod they will pay for is prolly a alarm system, and a friend will get that in for 260, the viper vx790 i believe? remote start and blah blah blah all those goodies u need heh. mm yea i was thinking either a fully load VW or a bare wrx.

tell your parents you want the $3000 BBS wheels...when they say no, bargain with them for $1500+ to spend on mods(exhaust/intake/wheels)...if that doesnt work(doesnt sound like it will)... you could just go with the $800 exhaust and turbo gauge which would bring the price to about 25(otd)
