Wife said NO Wagon
Last May I bought my wife a car for Mothers day. I told her any car she wanted, then I tried to talk her into a WRX wagon.
No dice, she insisted on a Vibe.
While driving around this weekend in the wife's Vibe, I jokingly asked my wife if she will think any less of me when I buy a station wagon, a WRX Wagon of course. Since we have two kids, a 4 year old and an 8 month old it's nice to have the extra room of a wagon and I'd rather be in a WRX wagon than the Vibe. There is nothing wrong with the Vibe really, but since I don't have much preference between the WRX sedan and wagon I figured once I bought the wagon I'd never have to drive the Vibe again. Anyway, she said yes, she would think less of me if I bought a wagon!?!?!?
To put things in perspective, when we first started dating she was attracted to me because I was a "bad boy". Long hair, tight jeans, cowboy boots, drove a jeep and a corvette, smoked, drank way too much, told her I didn't want a relationship just sex, etc. Without going into detail, I was attracted to her because she was a "bad girl" in many ways herself. A number of years and 2 kids later we are slipping into a full domestic family life and I think me buying a wagon would kill whatever "bad boy" image I still have in her eyes.
I guess I'll be sedan shopping this summer afterall.
Am I the only one here that thinks the WRX is a fairly boring, ordinary looking car? This is the reason I don't really care if it's a wagon or sedan, neither of them are all that sporty looking to me. I also like the looks of the '02/'03's better than the '04's, they at least were a bit less mainstream...

agree on the looks. when i was buying my 04, I didnt think that the sedan loked that much better...
with the ability to haul and serve as a quasi-utility vehicle, i went for the wagon. sometimes i wish i had bought a sedan but the grass is always greener

Nothing looks scarier than a black wagon...
It's also a heckuva lot more practical with a family. I think your wife would come to appreciate it, once the AWD, power, and interior space show their worth.
Walk softly... and drive a wagon!

screw her... get the wagon man... i personally like the sedans more (thats why i got a sedan) but if a wagon is what you want who cares what anybody else thinks.
the '02/'03's are sweet... you should be able to get a good deal on a used one...

HAHAHA I know how you feel since I just bought a 04 WRX wagon 4 months ago. My girlfriend w/ baby on the way was like "hell no" to the wagon but being the jerkface I am I got it anyways. Now all I hear is let me drive the rex, let me drive the rex. Take your girl for a ride in the beast and when she feels that turbo kick in she will dig it.
On a side note though I am thinking of trading the WRX in for a turbo baja. They have a ton of room in my opinion, hualing ability, and they have super sleeper ability which is a perfect package.
You might also think about the Turbo forester, its was on my list but I wanted a bed that the baja provides w/o getting a truck so I can haul around home and car stuff. I dont care much about looks, all function sista.

Show your wife ALL the specs of the POS Vibe tell her she has "bad taste"... then after she says "absolutely NOT" to the WRX wagon slide in pictures of the Forester XT and convince her to get that.
Kinda like the sloppy second change over if you know what i mean
BTW i actually think the MY04 WRX wagon looks more sporty than the sedan for some reason.

I gotta chime in here -
My black wagon is BAD AZZ, period.
I went thru a couple weeks of, "maybe I should get the sedan, it's cooler looking" before I got my wagon. But the day it came in, at first sight I was like, wow! Not to dis the sedan at all, but a black rex wagon is cooler than cool - ICE COLD! =)

If you really don't care then get the sedan. Wives can be real *****y if it don't go their way. Sounds like you're still madly in love with her. Don't do something you'll regret someday.

As for the looks, it'll grow on you the more you personalize the car.
