Err...couldn't you do the same thing on a Mustang? What function would removing the plastic blocking on a USDM GC8 have, anyway?

"Every car has at least 3 very non-funtional parts. Once again, its all about marketing."

Show me three non-functional parts on an 02 wrx and I'll be surprised. This car is so practically designed, great engineering despite the poor aerodynamics.

And yes I have seen those "nostrils" on Mustangs, just another weak part like the GC8 fake hoodscoops that did nothing but raise the price of the vehicle unless the owner took out the plastic blocking plates.

"what about the spoilers we all dig on our STI's and our RS's. Sorry, but none of us really drive so fast regularly that they would even make a difference. Every car has at least 3 very non-funtional parts. Once again, its all about marketing."

actually the sti rear spoiler does have a function, around 70 mph in does provide downforce. i find that on the highway there is a noticeable difference in stability (i had a factory wrx wing on my car for 2 years before putting an sti spoiler on my car).

Don't take out those plates if you happen to have rain where you live, unless you really enjoy having a rusted engine bay. Those vents make sense on a rally car, but for a daily driver they aren't practical.

Oh really? Do you know how much downforce that spoiler creates, in pounds? You're able to tell a difference in stability on the highway? I'm not saying you're a liar, but my car also seems to run better on a full tank of gas.

ya, you could do that.. but the topic is why stock cars come with nonfunctional vents. maybe you should read the entire thread u numbnut! someone used the gc8 as an example saying they had open hoodscoops. i mearly corrected him. the stock gc8 hoodscoop is as nonfunctional as the mustangs. happy?

But does the tempurature drop enough to actually effect anything? If they have done tests over and over again, then you should be able to tell us how much the tempurature drops, right? And if the air tempurature around a non-turbo engine is cooler, how much does that effect performance? In theory, it should effect it, but only in theory - i doubt it makes much a difference. So drop this functionality crap - subaru even said they put the hoodscoop on the RS and outback for a MORE AGGRESSIVE APPEARANCE.
