what year is this car. it is for sale by my house but the ad said it is a 1997 i think it is wrong. it is in the preowned listed as a 1997 outback sport

what makes you think it isn't a 1997 Outback Sport? From the picture, it seems like it is possibly a 1997. It could be anywhere from 1997-2001 Outback Sport.

 

i think that the front end is wrong but the guy at the dealer said it is right. that is a rs front bumper correct?

 

You are correct, but I don't think any year OBS came with that bumper. The previous owner must have changed the bumper skin.

I'm still willing to bet its a 97 though.

 

i am going to check it out on saturday. i hope there i was no damage done to the car. i hope they just changed it because they liked the way it looks over the stock one. but i will look at it close to see

 

I had a 2001 OBS myself. The head lights on that supposed 1997 are cleared out the same as my 2001. I thought the 97 model had the old style lights that difused the light at the lens.

Being that it has a different bumper, maybe those aren't the original head lights either. I'd look at the body panels for any strange gaps. Might be that car was in an accident.
