Wow.. Greater in the US even with the higher octane fuel that is sold in Japan? Is the timing different? I'm confused now.. Alright enough about the Honda.. More about the Sti.

Some examples are the Mitsu VR-4 which was rated 280PS in Japan and 300 to 320HP in America, even though there was no difference in engine specifications or design. Same with the 300ZX-TT. The JDM STi and Evo VII are both putting out somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 to 310 HP. Again, both rated at 280PS. It's a strange hypocrisy they have going on in Japan. They all just stick to the 280PS figure, even though everyone knows it's bull$h*t, just to make everyone feel better or something.

I like the old Sti scoop over the new one.. I have the sti scoop on my car and I think it looks great, but that new one would look silly I think, too much sculpting IMO.

ps. In the debate about the higher octane fuel in Japan I think their 98RON is equal to the Sunco Ultra 94 that is available here and other companies 94octane as well, since we use an average R+M/2 versus the ***. who just use the RON rating IIRC not averaging in the Motor Octane number as well. Please correct me if I am wrong since I'm not 100% on that. thanx
