What is BMW coming to...
i don't really care for the new look of the 5 series and the soon to be new 3 series, i think that it works on the 7 series alright...and as for the new M5 it's way too computerized now. you can't get that car with a regular 6 speed manual, it's all that stupid computer controlled automatic crap. they had an article about the car in car and driver last month. you put the car into 'launch mode' to get the optimal take off the line. this consists of pushing several buttons and than hitting the gas, just like an automatic...what fun is that? i want a clutch damnit! is that too much to ask for?

the new 7 series is probably the nicest sedan I've ever seen. I-drive sucks, but if I had the money I'd probably buy one over just about anything else, besides a 911(hail to boxers) for that money.

Well maybe i-drive isn't so hard to use after a month or two, but I actually enjoy driving my car, not inputing signals to a computer which then determines what it thinks I want the car to do and gives me it's best impression of my driving... Which is why BMW's are no longer for me.

The general concensous on I-drive is, that is sucks. A bunch of my friends are huge bimmer fans. It's just the point of instead of reaching down to turn a **** to turn on the AC you have to navigate through a computer. Now the buttons are there so that you can remember what to push. But its just the point. I believe they did this because before people critizied BMW for having to many freaking buttons. Now there is one.

function over form?
While I am still getting used to the way the new bimmers look I firmly believe that if a design makes a car better for driving, aerodynamics, etc then who cars what it looks like. I drive for the experience and while I like nice looks I would gladly take an ugly car that performs over one that looks nice and handles bad. From what I hear the wind tunnel tests show that the new tail section is faster and more efficent. I say go BMW.
a lot of people think subaru's are ugly cars too. I like how beefy they are. I really don't think the way the new BMW's are shaped helps their performance all that much, I know wind tunnel techknoledgy get's better every year, but I just think it's how the company wants to change the image to compete with VW's, AUDI, and MB's. All german cars went from boxes to sleek in the last couple years. I like the boxy style of the E36 as oppose to the new 3series. But I think the new 7 series is a lot better then the big **** box they use to be.
I really had no love for the new 5 series until I saw it in person, all the photographs I saw were really bad angles I guess. The rear didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I even thought at waist level, looking at it from say sitting in another car it looked hawt!
the new 3 looks good to me, luckily it's still a BMW. It would be great if a new design team did a throw back to the 90's, but alas not yet.
