So NBC plans on piloting a US version of Top Gear. Depending on how it does, it may or may not be picked up for a full season.

Adam Corolla will be the main host, with Eric Stromer and Tanner Foust (I guess he will be the US version of the Stig?)

TV suits dont understand WHY people watch something. 1/2 the reason its cool is because its based in England...

Look at Iron Chef...Japanese version will always be better than the American version...Same with Most Extreme Elimination Challenge that ABC has been advertising an American version, which will be fun to watch, but never as good as MXC.

As long as this American top gear doesnt include Larry Webster from Car and Driver...I hate everyone at Car and Driver, all they do is whine and praise features that only appeal to the soccer moms etc. Theyve complained about every Subaru model that has ever had frameless doors because of loud rattle when shutting...give me a F'n break.

Lets also hope the camera/editing work remains that of the quality of Top Gear UK

 

one big disadvantage is that the show's probably going to test drive usdm models only and nothing else.

my guess is that it will fail. If it makes it into a full season, it'll run maybe 2-3 seasons max.

they better blow stuff up or steal ideas from bbc's top gear to keep it entertaining.

^ yeah really...lets just hope they have a budget like Top Gear UK, like making a scale model rocket ship that plows into some UK village haha. Or smashing smart cars...though that car wsa probably donated for advertisement.

Kart track, Road course, Mountain course, Gravel mountian course etc.

only time can tell. as for the cars they'll have to test, if you look at top gear, a lot of their specials/challenges aren't even with new cars. it's the people around the show that'll make or break it...not as much as the cars they'll have to test.

i just can't wait for the start of Top Gear Season 11 on sunday.

Whats wrong with flying the cast over from the UK to film a few episodes every month to review American cars...oh wait, i just figured it out, this show will fail because the UK gets every car that USA gets and then some. So it will be pointless to watch.

All the hardcore Top Gear fans will continue to watch aka dream with the UK crew, while the new viewers will watch the USA Top Gear for a few episodes, then go out and total their dads Mustangs and Corvettes
