supra turbos
supra turbos
i've seen plenty of single/twin turbo supra pushing 900-1000 hp at the wheels. Thats pretty amazing considiring its only 3 liters. And a lot of the cars are daily drivers to boot. But, have you looked at the power bands on these 900 hp "daily drivers"? some on to4r.com make less than 250 ft lbs. till about 4800-5100 hp, when the turbo finally spools. Today, i came across an article in 5.0 magazine (ooh, must be hated here
) and they installed a twin screw blower on a 4.6 gt motor. due to the positive displacement nature of the twin screw, this thing made over 450 ft lbs at 2000 rpm. Amazing. Iover 6 psi by 2000 rpm. Why cant someone incorporate this tech. into supras to make their bottom ends pick up?
sorry for the long post.

easy a roots blower is run off the crank and makes power at idle and it increases as rpm increase. In those blower setups you can be under driven or over driven. The drive is measured in %'s..that and a V-8 will always make more torque than in I-6 that runs turbos because of the Lag time, and 2 more cylinders.

That is absolutely bogus. There are two 800hp (1100hp on race gas) Supras here in Phoenix, and both easily turn 10's every time; the faster of the two has hit 9.36 on race gas. That particular car has been on three covers in the past few months, and it is streetable and daily driven.
