i want both, have one. . . need the other. the g35 is a lot "prettier" if thats what you want. bottom line performance the sti wins hands down even in terms of aftermarket potential. the g35 just starts off too heavy to begin with in terms of performance. but the looks are killer. . where as the sti.. it can be a "grow on ya" kind of look.

i like the g35 becuz it looks better, stock is what we're talking, and i like the way they handle.
I don't understand why people think the G35 is a good-looking car. That bucktoothed grin and the lipstick colors it comes in makes it nearly impossible to make it look "mean" or aggressive (unless of course you get it in black.) And stock-for-stock, an STI will wipe the track with that car; even better, an STI with enough mods to make up the price difference (G35 Coupes are selling for $36k here) would blow the doors off. I've drive both, and while the G35 coupe handles nicely and has some power, it felt sluggish and loose compared to the "on rails" STI. Once you get hooked on having that AWD kick you through the corner, I just can't go back to RWD.
We are talking about the coupe, right? 'cause if you're talking about the sedan, anyone who'd pick that over the STI is nuts.
It may be due to the fact that I live in Scottsdale, but the only people I see driving the G35s are little old ladies (they favor the electric blue color) and the occasional midlife-crisis dude with a comb-over. I've seen exactly one that looked dangerous, which sounded like it was running dual Flowmasters and had a 1" drop all around -- but that's not stock.

don't get me wrong though... i'm not complaining though. 300 hp is very nice-along with the clawing power of AWD.
ironically, the g35 sedan is lighter and faster than the coupe. . .

I would go for the STI better modability and fast as hell, plus you have four doors if you ever have to take people places.
My buddies dad owns the sedan with the sport package. This is the guys first non BMW in quite a few years and he says the G35 is the best balanced car he's driven. Look at the numbers and the G35 beats the Sti on the skidpad and slalom.

fyi, the coupe of the G35 is 6spd as well.
and its sport clutch, so its similar to a 6puc clutch. 2nd is hard to engage smoothly if one is a noob.

Note: Don't forget price difference as well.
If you're not planning on racing get the G35. My dad has one and I find myself driving his car more than my wrx sometime because in traffic, the only thing that matter is how comfortable you are.
