You really have to launch your car almost everyday you drive it in order to mess up the tranny. If your car is stock you dont have much to worry about. If it has many upgrades then you have to be careful at tourqe levels and not drop the clutch at high RPM's unless you have an upgraded tranny. So if you havent worked with cars before especially wrx's and sti as i have for 4 years then you cant really say have fun taking it the the dealer for repairs. I personaly think STI will Beat the EVo as long as you know your car. Usually i start leaving cars on second gear a lot faster then first even if they are right with me on first gear.
