Starting the Car from a stop

Hey guys,
I've read alot on the forums about launching, slipping the clutch, feathering the clutch to get the car going. I am just curious how everyone starts there car from a stop in normal driving. Also curious how long it takes you to get to the point where your foot is off the clutch and your going in first gear? Should it take about 1 second-1.5 seconds from where you start lifting your foot off the clutch while giving it gas to where your foot is completely off the clutch?
Guys thanks for your help. I am just trying to get everyones methods of getting the car going without hurting the clutch. (Normal Driving situations) = no answers of revving to 5k rpms and dropping the clutch :-P
Thanks for your help again guys.

I guess it depends on how fast you want to drive but for me i just casually slip the car forward with the clutch at low rpms like 1.5k and get going from there.

Give the car a slight rev to give myself inertia on the flywheel
Then slip the cluth in moments later giving it a small amount of gas
When i feel the clutch start to bite i wait until the car starts rolling before i start to really let the clutch engage fully and apply more gas
All in all this take me less then 2 seonds to apply.

For normal driving to get started from a start when I first started driving a clutch I tried to get it so that as I let the clutch out my gas foot was pressing down the same distance. I tried to picture my feet as levers, as one goes up the other one comes down.
As for my suby, now that I have had a chance to really get my technique down I let the clutch out and I can feel right where my the clutch starts to grab. At that point is when I give it some gas and then let the clutch out. Doesn't take that long and I have not had any clutch problems using this technique. I'm still using the original clutch and it's been ~40K miles. Sometimes though I think I am slipping it.

Too much of this and you'll smell it burning otherwise it will be fine.

That's exactly what I do too. Giving it a bit of gas before engaging the clutch helps out a ton.
